Description
A Bartender is responsible for creating and serving beverages, managing the bar area, and ensuring exceptional customer service to guests in the hotel's bar or lounge.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Create and serve a wide range of beverages, including cocktails, mock-tails, and specialty drinks, following standardized recipes and techniques.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests, taking their orders, and ensuring timely delivery of drinks.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, including restocking supplies, cleaning glasses, and keeping the bar counter and equipment sanitized.
- Stay updated on current drink trends, new recipes, and mixology techniques to offer unique and innovative drink options to guests.
- Adhere to all legal regulations and hotel policies regarding the service and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Upsell and promote drink specials, hotel promotions, and loyalty programs to maximize revenue.
- Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, including processing payments, giving change, and maintaining cash drawer integrity.
- Collaborate with other hotel staff, such as servers and kitchen staff, to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
- Monitor alcohol consumption and identify potential signs of intoxication, ensuring responsible service and taking appropriate action when necessary.
- Respond to guest inquiries, complaints, and requests promptly and courteously, resolving issues to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Follow all safety and security procedures to ensure the well-being of guests, colleagues, and the hotel property.
Qualifications Required
- Previous experience as a bartender in a hotel, restaurant, or similar establishment.
- Strong knowledge of different types of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as mixology techniques and recipes.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Good understanding of cash handling procedures and ability to accurately process transactions.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service practices.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with guests, colleagues, and other hotel staff.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as per the demands of the hotel industry.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the bar area.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and cooperation.
- Certification or training in bartending, mixology, or related field may be preferred, but not always required depending on the establishment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time while performing bartending duties.
- Stamina and physical strength to lift and carry heavy beverage supplies (e.g., kegs, cases of alcohol, ice).
- Manual dexterity and coordination to handle and manipulate glassware, bottles, and bar tools.
- Visual acuity and attention to detail for garnishing drinks, reading orders, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and often crowded environment, navigating through tight spaces.
- Good hand-eye coordination for precise pouring and mixing of beverages.
- Tolerance for working in temperature variations, as bartending areas may be hot or cold depending on the location and season.
- Ability to work in a noisy environment and effectively communicate with guests and colleagues.
- Physical flexibility to reach and access various areas of the bar and its equipment.
